The goal of flexibility training is to have maximum range of motion without pain or stiffness. It is multifaceted – encompassing a number of aspects that have impact on health and well-being.įlexibility pertains to the body’s range of motion. It is important to become familiar with the components of childhood fitness. The cardiovascular trend for the world’s children (and especially America’s) is reason for concern, but these trends can be changed even for children who are part of this “degenerating generation.” They cardiovascular habits of children can be improved (with the addition to cardiovascular activities to their daily routines and lifestyle changes) so that cardio endurance can be improved. “The most important type of fitness for good health is cardiovascular fitness, which is the ability to exercise vigorously for a long time, like running multiple laps around an oval track.” Not all of these types of “strength” relate well to “health,” according to contribute to Grant Tomkinson, Ph.D., lead author of the study founding the American Heart Association’s research. Students will be assessed throughout the project. Most should want to as they have invested a part of their time into designing something that they should want to do. Strongly encourage students to implement their programs.Their activity can be done with other members of the classroom for motivational purposes or for team games like soccer.They will first need to write down what their current schedule and find time slots for their workouts (this shouldn’t be too hard). Students will choose one of the cardiovascular activities and design a weekly workout schedule around that activity.Talk about the activities and do any needed clarifying about the definition of a cardiovascular activity. Come back together as a class, and have groups share the activities that they listed.Have them record their ideas on the butcher paper. Divide students into groups of 3-4 and have them brainstorm as many types of cardiovascular exercise that they can.Doctors recommend people exercise at least 3 times a week for at least 20 minutes each time.It’s exercise that makes your heart stronger by making your heart beat harder and faster.Explain to students a little about cardiovascular activity:.Explain to students the supreme benefits of cardiovascular activity:.Many students may find long bouts of endurance activity slightly boring (I can’t imagine why). You can choose any video that you want and selectively edit parts that you want to show. The last few miles of the 1996 men’s Olympic Marathon is very good as are the 19 Hawaii Ironman Triathlon Championships.
